Find Principal Bassett Dead at Bowmont
Nampa - Early Thursday afternoon word was reached here from Bowmont that Principal I.A. Bassett of the Bowmont school dropped dead near his home between 12 and 1 o'clock. Mr. Bassett was a man of advanced years, being in the early sixties, and it is supposed that heart failure or apoplexy was responsible for his sudden death. He had been in the schoolroom about his accustomed duties during the morning, seemingly in as good health as usual.
      Trainmen Find Body
The body was found lying near the railroad track by the crew of the Murphy branch train. It was still warm but life was extinct. Nearby was a halter, death having overtaken him it is said, as he was returning from leading his horse to water. Friends were immediately notified and the sad news was conveyed to Mrs. Florence Appy in this city, a daughter of Mr. Bassett. A physician was also summoned from Nampa to make an examination.
      Known in Nampa
It was understood that the body was being brought to Nampa. As Mr. Bassett had lived in Nampa much of the time while not teaching it is thought probable the funeral will be held here. In addition to the daughter, Mrs. Appy, Miss Nellie Appy, a granddaughter, also lives in this city. Information as to other possible relatives could not be obtained.
