Obituary
Mrs. Lorenda Bass died Dec. 5, 1913, at the advanced age of 78 years, 5 motnhs, 25 days. Mrs. Bass died at the home of her son, Frank Bass, in Sumpter on the old farm which had been her home for forty years. Her death came after ma y months of sickness and suffering due to hardening of the arteries and the infirmities of old age.
Lorenda Hill was born June 10, 1835, in the town of Plainville, Vermont, where he girlhood was passed and where she was married January 4, 1857, to I. Wilbur Bass who preced her to ?the better land? twenty years ago.
The first years of her married life were spent in Iowa and Vermont and in 1873 she came with her husband to Sumpter, Wisconsin, where she has since resided on the home farm purchased at that time. Early in life she became a loving follower of Christ and for more than fifty years she had been a devoted consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church in whose ministrations she ever deligfhted to partake.
She leaves to mourn her loss one aged sisters, two sons and two daughters who will always cherich tender memories of a loving, faithful Christian mother of whom it could be truly said that in every walk of life, ?She hath done what she could.?
Mr. and Mrs. Shephard of Waukesha, Wis., and Mrs. Kate Canright of Fairmont, Minn., attended the funeral, which was held Saturday, Decmeber 6.
