      Ina Marie McGinnis Dorsey Bassett

Ina Marie McGinnis Dorsey Bassett, 103, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Katherine's Place in Fayetteville, AR. She was born October 28, 1920, in Clifty, AR to George Arvil McGinnis and Helena Catherine "Kate" Hammons. She had two loving brothers, Albert Allen McGinnis and Ernest Eugene "Burl" McGinnis.
Ina married Fred Dorsey on January 5, 1939. Ina and Fred had seven children, Linda Kay, Brenda Lou, Randy James, Scotty Sherman, Stanley Arvil, Connie Hill, and Dixie Marie. She later remarried Joe Bassett and gained two children from that union, Edward Bassett and David Bassett. She was preceded in death by Fred Dorsey, Joe Bassett, Randy James Dorsey Frye, Scotty Sherman Dorsey, and Dixie Marie Dorsey, and her two loving brothers Allen McGinnis and Burl McGinnis. She is survived by four of her children, Linda Stokes of Laughlin, NV, Brenda Pierce of Fayetteville, AR, Stanley Dorsey of Norfolk, VA, and Connie Dorsey (Amy) of Vail, CO and one stepson David Bassett of Bowling Green, FL; 33 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ina lived a long and fulfilling life. She worked for many years at the Levi Strauss Factory. When she was not working, she focused on caring for her family. She was very creative and talented. In her spare time, she loved to sew and embroider. She could make anything for her family from beautiful intricate quilts, Afghans, dresses, clothes, and dolls. If she didn't have a pattern she liked, she made her own. Ina started every day by making her bed and getting dressed. She always had her hair fixed and nails painted. She loved all of her family but wouldn't hesitate to straighten someone out if they needed it. She was cherished by her family and will be greatly missed.
Graveside service will be at 3:00 pm Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Fairview Memorial Gardens under the direction of Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
