Thelma Peerson
Thelma Peerson, 82, a resident of Bay St. Louis, died Wednesday, August 30, 2006, in Meridian, Mississippi, where she had lived since evacuating for Hurricane Katrina. Ms. Peerson was a native of Fayetteville, Arkansas, moving to the Coast in 1996. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Tuesday Quilters until moving into a nursing home in December 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Lillian Hanks Shults; and a brother, Roland Shults. She is survived by a sister, Vera Billinger and husband Elmer of Rockport, Texas; a brother, Willard Shults and wife Ann of Moses Lake, Washington; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Shults of Aurora, Colorado; two sons, Edward Bassett and wife Joanne of Ft. Worth, Texas; David Bassett and wife Pam of Bay St. Louis; five grandchildren, Michael Bassett and Michele Bassett of Ft. Worth, Texas, Brad Bassett of Bentonville, Arkansas; Becky Bassett of Springdale, Arkansas, and Jade Karnes of Diamondhead; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Main St. United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Main St. Methodist Church.
