- The Late Professor Bassett

The death of Professor M.E. Bassett, head of the department of romance languages at the University of Western Ontario, is not only a severe loss to the university, but to the cultural life of London in this district.
In addition to his scholarly attainments, Professor Bassett was an artist of more than ordinary merit, and was a student and critic of art. Professor Bassett for the past six years has been president of the Western Art League and, since its foundation, a member of the Art Museum Board of Trustees of the City Library. Professor Bassett's knowledge and advice have been invaluable in the establishment of the city's new art gallery. Professor Bassett took also a deep interest in the new McIntosh Memorial Art Gallery at the university, and his death will be a loss in the development of art at Western.
Professor Bassett was a scholarly, cultured, kindly gentleman, who during his sojourn in London had made a real contribution in his quiet way to the life of this city.
