CENTRALIA -- Dale E. Bassett, 77, passed away at 7:15 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at his home in Centralia.
He was born at home Jan. 1, 1937, in Foster Township, the son of Ellis "Buck" and Clella (Caldwell) Bassett.
He married Lorraine Dotson on Aug. 20, 1960, in Carbondale, and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mr. Bassett is survived by one daughter, Lori Bassett and Doug Goad of Fredericktown, Mo.; one son, Grant Bassett and wife, Shelli of Los Altos, Calif.; one granddaughter, Isabella Bassett of Los Altos, Calif.; one brother, Dayne Bassett and wife, Virgie of Alma, one brother-in-law, Tom Dotson and wife, Beth of Tumwater, Wash.; one nephew; and several nieces and cousins.
Celebration of Life Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, in First United Methodist Church in Centralia, with the Rev. Rusty Beals and Deacon Grant Bassett Officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park near Centralia. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28, in Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Bassett's honor to Kaskaksia College Foundation or First United Methodist Church and will be received at the Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.
