Nellie Bassett Hauser
WALKERTON - Mrs. Nellie Bassett Hauser, 91, the wife of the late Sam Doc Hauser, died Thursday evening at the Lutheran Home of Winston-Salem. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Vogler & Sons Main Street Chapel by the Rev. Joe McWethy and the Rev. Philip Wagoner. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory.
Mrs. Hauser was born March 28, 1911, in Davie County, the daughter of Bennett and Mattie Caudle Bassett.
She retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. after 41 years of service and served as a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center for many years. She was a member of Walkertown First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Joe (Laura) Hauser; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Frances (Charles) McDaniel, all of Walkertown; two grandchildren, Christie (David) Smith and Charlene (Kim) Owens; and three great-grandchildren, Eric Smith, William Owens and Samuel Owens.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at the funeral home. They request that any memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
