Sara Bassett
Durnah, N.H. – Sara “Sali” Waldron Bassett, 76, wife of Donald R. Bassett,
formerly of Bagdad Road, Durham, N.H., died on Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at The
Ridge at Riverwoods, Exeter, N.H. Born in New Brunswick, N.J., on Feb. 18,
1929, she was the daughter of Jerome H. and Anita Mary (Blake) Waldron of Hoes
Lane, Piscataway, N.J. She and her husband lived in Durham for 30 years before
moving to The Ridge at Riverwoods six months ago. She attended St. John
Episcopal Church, where she was active in the Altar Guild and the Thrift Shop.
Sali was a travel agent at University Travel in Durham. She was a member of
the Colonial Dames, The Tuesday Afternoon Club, Book Club, Garden Club, the
Moffitt Ladd House, and the Navy Wives. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening,
reading and traveling. Sali is survived by her husband of 57 years, Donald R.
Bassett; a son, Donald R. Bassett Jr. of Westerly; three daughters, Deborah
Yering of Waterford, Lynne Giessing of Brandenton, Fla., and Stephanie Potts
of Franklin, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters,
Jane Ambler of Dover Foxcroft, Maine, and Marcia Dunne of Farmington; eight
nieces and three nephews. The Kent and Pelczar Funeral Home in Newmarke
N.H., is assisting the family.
