Donald R. Bassett
Durham, N.H. - Donald R. Bassett, 89, widower of Sara W. Bassett, formerly of 24 Bagdad Road, Durham, died on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012, at The Ridge at RiverWoods, Exeter, N.H.
Born in Palmertown, Pa., on Aug. 14, 1923, he was the son of Arthur Whiting Bassett and Helen (Hall) Bassett. Don and his wife lived in Durham for over 30 years before moving to The Ridge at RiverWoods in 2005.
Don served in the U.S. Navy for over 35 years as a dentist. After his retirement, he taught pharmacology, supervised teaching dentistry at Tufts, and volunteered in the UNH Marine Docent Program.
He is survived by a son, Donald R Bassett Jr. of Hope Valley, R.I.; three daughters, Deborah Yering of Waterford, Lynne Giessing of Bradenton, Fla., and Stephanie Potts of Franklin, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marion Brenner of New Britain.
