- Mary Frances was killed along with her sister, Virginia, in a car/train accident at Old 421, north of Shelbyville at the train tracks. Her death came just a few days before her wedding day.

Ladies Aid Society Adopts Resolutions on Death of Bassett Sisters
Members of the Ladies Aid Society of the Liberty United Brethren
church, at a recent meeting, adopted resolutions paying tribute to the memory
of Misses Frances and Virginia Bassett, who lost their lives in a tragic
grade crossing accident a few weeks ago.

We, the member of the Ladies Aid of the Liberty United Brethren church
wish to offer a tribute of love and esteem to the memory of our late member,
Miss Frances Bassett, and her sister Virginia:
Resolved, that we acknowledge our fortunate privilege and great
pleasure to have been associated with Frances as a beloved friend and co-
worker in our Sunday school, church and Aid Society.
Resolved that we express our sincere appreciation for the many
pleasant associations we have had with Virginia as a member of our Sund
school and church.
Resolved, that we shall always cherish in our memories those hi
qualities of mind and soul and admirable traits of character that so endeared
these two sisters to us.
Resolved, that we offer our heartfelt sympathy to their bereaved loved
ones in the hope that we may soothe their grief and lighten the sorrow that
