    • Mrs. Clark dies at 70

      Mrs. Henry (Mildred) Clark, 70, R.R. 3, Shelbyville, died Thursday at
      8:00 p.m. at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. She had been ill four weeks.
      A lifelong resident of Shelby County, Mrs. Clark had been a school
      teacher 37 years, retiring three years ago from Triton Central High School.
      She was a member of and active in Fairland United Methodist Church affairs,
      serving on the Council of Ministers and official board of the church, as well
      as president of the United Methodist Women unit.
      Mrs. Clark was a member and past matron of Fairland Chapter, O.E.S.;
      Triton Central Classroom Teachers Association; Shelby County Retired Teachers
      Association, Indiana State Teachers Association and the Saturday Women's Club
      of Fairland.
      Born in this county Feb. 29, 1904, the daughter of Melvin and Lora
      (Gillespie) Bassett, she was first married to Floyd Harrell, who died Sept.
      30, 1945. On May 11, 1955, she was married to Henry Clark, who survive
      Also surviving are two children, James Harrell, R.R.3, Shelbyville,
      and Mrs. Henry (Linda) Johnson, R.R.1, Fountaintown; two stepchildren, Norman
      Henry Clark, Indianapolis, and Mrs. Donnas (Lucille) Schinner, Menlo Park,
      Calif.; five grandchildren; and four brothers and sisters, Carl E. Bassett,
      R.R.2, Shelbyville, Wilbur W. Bassett and Mrs. Ruth Cox, Indianapolis, and
      Miss Edythe Bassett, Fairland.
      Services will be Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Fairland United Methodi
      Church, with the Rev. Arnold Atkins officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill
      Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ewing Mortuary after 2:00 p.m. Sunday and on
      Monday afternoon at the church.
