Death of Quinn Bass, Sr.
Mr. J. C. Bass, of this city, is back from Kissimmee, where he went to attend the burial of his father, Mr. Quinn Bass, Sr., an aged and respected citizen of that place. The Osceola Journal has this to say about the old gentleman, who is well known here, where he spent a good portion of his time with his son.
On Monday last Mr. Quinn Bass, Sr. departed this life at the home of Charles Bass in North Kissimmee. Deceased had suffered from cancer for a number of years, and for some time had been totally blind. Immediate cause of death, however, was a cold contracted while in St. Cloud a couple of weeks ago.
Mr. Bass was one of the oldest citizens of this section, being 84 years of age, 60 years of which were spent in Florida, having removed here from South Carolina in early manhood. He was a veteran of the Indian wars and also was a brave soldier of the Confederacy.
The funeral took place Tuesday, and the remains were laid to rest in Rosehill Cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev. Bunyan Stephens of the Baptist church.
Deceased leaves a family of four sons and six daughters, his wife having died about a year ago.
