Elder Jimmy Bass Written By His Son, Elder Cleveland Bass
Elder Jimmie Bass was born May 10, 1909, in Brown County Texas to Henry Isom and Mary Evaline Bass. As a child he attended Church in Anson, Texas, where he was baptized at the association in Anson in 1925, by Elder J. J. Edwards. Brother Jimmie was married to Lora Mae Miller on December 25th 1934. Of this union three sons and three daughters were born. The Church at Stegall, Texas, called for Brother Jimmie's ordination on April 16, 1938. He was ordained on May 28, 1938, with ordained help from Plainview and Crosbyton Churches. This church called him to serve them as their pastor shortly after his ordination. Other Churches which he served were: Portales, N.M., Clovis, N.M., Muleshoe, Amarillo, Lubbock, Levelland, Brownfield, Anton, Rule, Brownwood, Weches, Plainview, and Odessa. He also had appointments at various times in Hobbs, N.M., Arlington, TX. Floydada, Dallas, Joseph Lane, (Ft. Worth) and Lamesa. He co-pastored with Elder W.L. Jackson in the Muleshoe Church. He also preached in fellowship in the West Texas Association and the West Providence association. He traveled from coast to coast preaching the gospel. His gift for counseling was a blessing and comfort to God's children everywhere. He married Alyne Lookadoo on February 7, 1980. They lived together in Amherst, Texas until his death on November 23, 1985.
