Hershel Bassett
Hershel Bassett, 83, retired paperhanger and painter, died of a heart attack at his home in Newcomerstown at 6:30 p.m. yesterday. He had been ill several days.
Mr. Bassett was born in Newcomerstown September 2nd, 1861, and was a son of the late Garrett and Maria Bassett.
Surviving are a son, Eugene Bassett of Malta, Ill.; two brothers, William R. Bassett of Dover and Robert Smith Bassett of Clifton, N.J.; and three sisters Miss Blanche Bassett of Newcomerstown, Mrs. J. E. Duff of Uhrichsville, and Mrs. W.P. Smalley of Aston, Okla.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Walter R. Hinds Funeral Home in Newcomerstown with the Rev. L.S. Green officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn cemetery, Newcomerstown.
