Frances Williams Bassett, 104, of Soda Springs, Idaho passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002 at the Caribou Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 13, 1898 at Hamburg, Iowa. the daughter of Henry and Susan Standley Williams.
She was raised and educated in Iowa. She came to Soda Springs by train and by horse and buggy from Soda Springs to Thatcher, Idaho where she taught school for many years. She was married to Willis L. Bassett on Jan. 1, 1923 in Hamburg, Iowa. Mr. Bassett passed away in 1956.
She moved to Soda Springs from Lago in 1957. Mrs. Bassett was also a librarian at the Soda Springs Library and at Soda Springs High School.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading, gardening and needlepoint.
She is survived by her son, Gary V. Bassett of Blackfoot. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.Funeral services were conducted at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002 at Presbyterian Church in Soda Springs. There was an Eastern Star service at the Sims Funeral Home on Tuesday evening.
Burial was in the Lago, Idaho Cemetery. Services were under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
