Bassett Dies At Age 71 Allen-----Russell Bassett, 71, 865 W Chicago Rd., Allen, died Monday morning at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where he had been a patient since Dec. 24. He was born in Kokomo Indiana, Dec 22, 1895, the son of Arthur and Minnie Sanders Bassett. For more than 20 years he was superintendent of the Street dept in Toledo. He came to Allen in 1950 where he owned and operated the Green Top Lodge and Restaurant. He is survived by his widow, the former Nellie Wallace; one daughter, Mrs. Earl (Waunita) Culbert of Somerset Center; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur Haack of Wisconsin, Mrs. Maddeline Miller, both of Kokomo Indiana, one brother, Kenneth Bassett of Kokomo; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Brown Funeral Home in Addison. Dr. Leo H Phillips will officiate with the burial in Somerset Cemetery.
