Society Wedding in Rhode Island Of Interest Here
Miss Edith Bradner Becomes Bride of Local Man,
Elliott Bassett Brown, at Wickford, Rhode Island
A society wedding of interest in this city took place yesterday afternoon at 4 at the Old Narragansett church at Wickford, Rhode Island, when Miss Edith Bradner, sister of Mr. and Mrs. Leicester Bradner of Wickford, became the bride of Elliott Bassett Brown, son of Dr. and Mrs. Plumb Brown of Brown street, this city. Most Rev. James DeWolf Perry, primate of the Episcopal church in America, performed the ceremony, assisted by the bride's brother, Rev. William M. Bradner of Weston. The Waterman trio played the wedding music, using "Pomp and Circumstance" as the processional, and Mendelssohn's "Wedding March" as recessional. The church was beautifully decorated with white roses, delphinium and honey-suckle.
Miss Helen Angell Reynolds of Providence, Rhode Island, served the bride as maid of honor, and Victor A. Miller of Denver, Colorado, served Mr. Brown as best man. The staff of ushers included Paul E. Callanan, Paul U. Morency, Millard Bartels, Holly Stevenson, William S. Cowles of Hartford, Connecticut, and John Bradner of Boston.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her brother, Leicester Bradner, wore a gown of ivory satin cut on princess lines with Chantilly lace cape and circular train, with tulle veil caught with Chantilly lace cap, and carried a spray of white roses and lilies of the valley. Her only attendant wore a pale yellow flowered organdie frock, with blue accessories, pale blue straw hat with embroidered flowers, and carried an arm bouquet of shaded blue delphinium.
Following the ceremony a reception was held at "Beth Chalon", the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leicester Bradner at Barbour Heights, Rhode Island, which was decorated for the occasion with delphinium and pernet roses. Mr. and Mrs. Bradner, Dr. and Mrs. Brown and the bridal attendants assisted in the receiving line. Mrs. Brown wore a gown of black lace with shoulder bouquet of gardenias and lilies of the valley.
Mr. Brown is now connected with the Travelers Insurance company offices at Hartford, Connecticut, and after August 1 the couple will be at home to friends at 37 Robin road, West Hartford.
