Audrey Caryi (nee Scott) (Picture included)
Audrey passed from this life on April 5, 2017 as a consequence of a riding accident, age 67.
Born in Manotick to the late Gordon and Myrtle (Bassett) Scott, Audrey attended Fisher Park High and then the Ontario College of Art, Toronto, graduating her program with honours.
Audrey met the love of her life, John Caryi, and in the summer of 1970 they eloped to the remote mountain town of Taman, Mexico. They moved to Dartford, in the rolling hills of Northumberland County, and there they welcomed their precious daughter,Tania.
Audrey supported John through his many years with MS until his passing in 2010.
Her passion for art and history led her to become a exhibit artist and museum specialist at Lang Pioneer Village Museum, Peterborough County, where she marked 34 years in February.
Her beloved horse Dixie Dale, age 33, died in 1995 in the field where she grazed in Dartford and a few years later, in that same meadow, her daughter Tania exchanged marriage vows with Cody Storry.
Among Audrey's other passions was travel with friends and family. All destinations and invitations were met with excitement, and a packed bag. She explored the world, touching on 4 continents.
Audrey was an enthusiastic community supporter and volunteer on Warkworth and area cultural boards and festivals, some of her own creation.
Audrey was the very proud Nana to Finley, Jude and Rhonan.
She is also survived by her aging equine friend Seleena, feline companion Poppy, her sister-in-law Pat (Tony Clementi) of Halifax, and her big sister Linda (Bill Gloss) in Ottawa as well as many very dear friends and neighbours who mourn her loss.
A life of giving to others included her generous organ donation on the day of her passing, through the Trillium Gift of Life program.
A celebration of her life, its beautiful energy and distinctive laugh, will be held at the Lang Pioneer Village Museum on May 20th, 11:00 am. You are invited to join her family on that day.
