Dorothy S. Bassett
DELTA/LOGAN - Dorothy Stephenson Bassett, age 78, passed away peacefully
November 8, 1996 at Sunshine Terrace in Logan.
Born June 5, 1919 at Holden to George Peter and Julia R. Stephenson. Married
Nelson Spicer "N.S." Bassett December 18, 1946. He died October 15, 1988.
She spent most of her life in Delta enjoying the life of wife, mother, and
homemaker. She lived with her children after N.S's death due to health. Her
priorities were love of God, devotion to husband and children. Home was their
haven. She enjoyed needlework, quilting, reading and gardening. An active LDS
member serving in Primary and Relief Society leadership and teaching. She was
a leader in DUP, Anne E. Meiville Bishop Camp. She possessed great kindness
and forbearance. She heightened N.S.'s successes and accomplishments by
untiring care and support. Her children's and grandchildren's successes were
sources of quiet pride and joy. She was always a lady even in adversity. She
will be missed for patient and loving ways.
Survived by son and daughters, Judy (John) Bergstrom, Chandler, Arizona; John
(Annette) Bassett, St. George; Barbara (Bruce) Child, Logan; nine
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Harold A. Stephenson, St.
George. Preceded in death by son; Richard; brother, Robert; sister, Helen.
Funeral services Monday, November 11, 1996, at 11 a.m. in the Delta 1st Ward,
222 West 200 North. Friends may call on Sunday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Nick
Mortuary, 190 South Center, Delta, and 10-10:45 a.m. at church on Monda
Burial Delta Cemetery. Family thanks Sunshine Terrace nurses and staff and
Adult Day Center. Donations to Sunshine Terrace are encouraged.
