Beulah Marie Petersen Bassett (Picture included)

Beulah Marie Petersen Bassett was born March 3, 1919 in Deseret, Utah, the
seventh child of Nels L. and Edith Bennett Petersen. She died Dec. 23, 2007 at
her home in Delta, Utah of causes incident to age. Beulah grew up in Hinckley,
Utah, attending Hinckley Elementary and graduating from Hinckley High School
in 1936. She attended LDS Business College, Brigham Young University and the
Holy Cross School of Nursing. She married Ralph Henry "Bud" Bassett in
Hinckley, Utah on March 8, 1939. Beulah and Bud lived with Grandpa Bassett
until 1943 when they purchased a farm in Sutherland, Utah where they ma
their home for the next thirty years. Bud passed away on March 25, 1973.
Shortly thereafter, Beulah moved to Delta. Prior to her marriage, Beulah worked
for the Commercial Bank of Nephi. Beulah was a stay-at-home wife and mother
until her youngest was old enough to go to school. She then embarked upon a 23
year career with Farmer's Home Administration, first as a County Office Clerk
and finally as an Office Management Assistant for the states of Utah and
Nevada. Beulah was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints, serving in each of the auxiliaries. She was Coordinator of the Jr.
Sunday School and coached the girl's softball team. She enjoyed golfing,
bowling and spending time in her garden. Beulah enjoyed traveling throughout
the world with family and friends. She especially enjoyed Florida and N
York, but found that nowhere could compare to Delta, Hinckley and Sutherland.
Beulah is survived by four children: Jacquelyn (Doug) Turner, Paige (Jerry)
Hawley, Howard (Syd) and Scott (Claudia). She leaves behind 19 grandchildren,
49 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren, as well as siblings:
Grethe Shipp, Margaret Jensen, Ward (NaRae) Petersen and Barbra (Dell) Ashby.
She was preceded in death by parents: Nels and Edith; husband: Bud, son-in-
law: Judd Hardy; grandson-in-law: Kenneth Shumway; great grand-daughter: Anna
Bassett; brothers: Lowell, Wayne and Homer Petersen; sisters: Nelda Memmott
and Dorathy Damron. Funeral services: Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at the
Sunderland 2nd Ward Chapel (3120 West 2600 North Delta) at 11 a.m. Friends
call at Nickle Mortuary (190 South Center Delta) Friday, 7-8 p.m. and on
Saturday at the church, 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial Sutherland Cemetery.
