June Bassett Reid
DELTA - June Bassett Reid, age 85, passed away February 17, 1999 at home of a
heart attack. June was born June 22, 1913 at Delta to William Henry and Eldula
Bishop Bassett. Her parents and maternal grandparents were among the first
settlers of Delta. June attended Delta public schools, graduating from Delta
High School in 1930. She graduated from BYU in 1932. She married Walter Leslie
"Jack" Reid on May 19, 1936 in Nephi. Jack died April 21, 1996. Jack and June
lived in Abraham where Jack was employed by the Millard County School District
following her graduation from BYU. She taught elementary school in Sutherland,
Hinckley, and Delta until her retirement in 1976. June cherished her memories
as a school teacher. She was a dedicated and hard working educator. The
service "Mrs. Reid" rendered her many students will not be forgotten. June was
a devoted wife. She cared for Jack lovingly through his diabetes and other
health concerns. June was a member of the LDS Church. She served on the West
Millard Hospital Board, volunteered at the Great Basin Museum, served as an
election judge for many years and was a member of local bridge clubs. June is
survived by a sister: Irma Ingersoll of Palm Beach, Florida; several nieces
and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and a sister. Memorial
services will be held Saturday, February 20, 1999 at 11 a.m. in the Delta 3rd
Ward. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 9:30-10:40 a.m. Burial
will be in the Delta Cemetery under the direction of Nickle Mortuary.
