Donald Lee Bass, 61, of Jesup, GA, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, in the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL, awaiting a liver transplant.
The Albany, GA, native had lived in Wayne Co., GA, the past 6 years & was a member of the Altamaha Baptist Church. He was a former member of the Gillionville Baptist Church in Albany, GA, a 36 year civil service retiree from the Marine Corp Logistic Base in Albany, GA, & a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was U. S. Navy Veteran, loved fishing, church work, bird watching and was preceded in death by his parents: Haywood & Mamie Bass & a brother: James Bass.
Survivors are his wife of 16 years: Janice Ivey Bass of Jesup, GA, a daughter: Tracy (Scott) McClure of Leesburg, GA, 2 sons: Kevin (Melissa) Bass of Charleston, SC, John (Catherine) Hallyburton of Prattville, AL, 3 sisters: Debbie (Ed) Fulford, Ann (Bill) Cecille, both of Albany, GA, Faye (Don) Eldridge of West Palm Beach, FL, sister-in-law: Sina Kay Bass of Albany, GA, 5 grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Saturday, April 23, 2011, from the Altamaha Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Lee & Rev. Keith Ivey officiating.
Interment will be in the Altamaha Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Family. Honorary pallbearers will be: Jerry Rogers Sunday School Class of Altamaha Baptist Church.
Visitation will be 10 to 11 A. M. Saturday from the Altamaha Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the: Altamaha Baptist Church Building Fund, 6622 Oglethorpe Rd. Jesup, GA, 31545.
