Funeral services for Clifford F. Bassett ?Pop?, of Palestine, will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at Bailey & Foster Chapel, with Rev. Alex Lupo and Rev. Lynn Willhite officiating. Burial will follow in Palestine City Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster Palestine. On the evening of November 17, 2016, Clifford Foree Bassett became an angel in heaven. He was 99 years old, but his100th birthday was only ten days away. Clifford Bassett began his life November 27, 1916 in Palestine, Texas. His parents were John F. and Fannie Bassett. He was a veteran of WWII and was owner/operator of Bassett?s Sinclair Station/Goodyear Tire Business, for over forty years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Bassett, to whom he was married for over 75 years. They both were lifelong members of First United Methodist Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing all his life. In later years he became an avid Bridge player. He really enjoyed playing Bridge with all of his church friends. He is survived by his daughter, Judith Bassett Bearden, granddaughters; Lori Bearden and Lisa Bearden, great granddaughters, Kylie Camacho, and Leah Green, great great grandchildren; Audrey and Ava Camacho, and Joseph Love. He was very much loved by all who knew him. Pallbearers will be Randy Harju, John Goodman, Andy Johnson, Leon Willhite, George McIntyre, Charles Price, and Steve Hinshaw. Honorary pallbearers will be the Victor Sunday School Class at church. Condolence calls will be received from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home Palestine. Family wishes to express a special thank you to Brookdale and Staff. In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the Charity of Choice or the Human Society.
