Mrs. Doris E. Bassett Lyman, 80
BARRE - Doris E. (Bassett) Lyman, 80, of 474 Valley Road, formerly of Holden, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.
Her husband, Clarence R. Lyman, died in 1988. She leaves a son, Raymond C. Lyman of Holden; two daughters, Tina J. Forget of Rochester, N.H., and Joyce R. Burnett of Barre, with whom she lived; a brother, Raymond Bassett of Atlantic City, N.J.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a niece. She was born in Holden, daughter of Otto and Emma (Hachey) Bassett, and lived there most of her life before moving to Barre 10 years ago. She attended Holden High School.
Mrs. Lyman worked at Holden Nursing Home for 15 years before she retired.
The funeral will be held Wednesday from Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas a Beckett Church, Vernon Avenue, South Barre. Burial will be in the spring in Glen Valley Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
