Helen L. Bassett, 76
Worcester - Helen L. Bassett, 76, formerly of Lansing Avenue, died Tuesday in the Odd Fellows Home after an illness.
She leaves a sister, Ruth A. Coates of Auburn; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Fred E. and Myrtle (Rathbun) Bassett, and lived several years in Kennebunk, Maine, and most of her life in Worcester. She earned her L.P.N. at Holden Hospital in 1941 and her R.N. at Leominster Hospital. She later received a degree in public health nursing from Boston University. Miss Bassett was a registered nurse at the Odd Fellows Home for ten years, retiring in 1985. She was previously a public health nurse in West Stockbridge and Kennebunk.
She was a member of Greendale Peoples Church and Stella Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Private burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are 7 to 9 tonight. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund, Odd Fellows Home, 104 Randolph Road, Worcester 10606.
