Sylvia C.(Bassett) Gibson
EAST ORLEANS - Sylvia C. (Bassett) Gibson, 91, a Cape resident since 1957,
died yesterday at the Liberty Commons Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center
after a brief illness. She was the wife of James O. Gibson, who died in 1990.
Born in Hopedale, Mrs. Gibson was raised in Sterling and was a graduate of
Worcester North High School. After working at the State Mutual Insurance Co.
in Worcester for nine years, she married in 1935 and lived in the Boston area.
She moved to Orleans from Needham in 1957. Surviving are a son, Robe
Gibson of South Orleans; a daughter, Carol G. Smith of Plymouth; four
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service is at 12:30
p.m. Monday in Orleans Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Orleans
Rescue Squad, Eldredge Park Way, Orleans, MA 20653.
