Hildegard was born June 2, 1936, in Pittston, PA, daughter of the late Joseph and Irene Hunter Golden passed away peacefully on Friday, October 24, 2025, at the age of 89. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Donald W. Bassett; son, Donald J. Bassett and grandson, Thomas William Schwab, son-in-law Samual Thomas Jennings and her 8 Siblings. She is survived by her loving daughters and son-in-law, Mary Jennings and Suzanne (Keith) Youngs; adored grandchildren, Michael (Kaitlyn) Bassett and Kathryn (Russell) Sagert; Jamie Nagle and Brook Hanlin; Joseph Bassett and Daniel (Zlatoela) Schwab; daughter-in-law, Debbie Bassett; along with great granddaughters, Bianca, Danica, and Senica Youngs; great grandsons, Finnly Nagle; and Ezekiel Bassett; canine companion Juliet; close family friend Pat Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
Hilda was a school bus driver for the Horseheads School District. She loved life! She was a very kind and compassionate person. Hilda loved her family fiercely and would do anything for them. She will be loved and missed by all.
At her request there will be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Hilda's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Church 224 Franklin Street Elmira, NY. Private Interment in Woodlawn National Cemetery. Family will provide their own flowers.
