Lillian L. Bassett, Havana
Lillian L. Bassett, 79, of Havana died Sunday, October 10, 1999, at Mason District Hospital in Havana. She was born born July 21, 1920, in Canton, the daughter of Charles V. and Clara Vance Petty. She married Raymond A. Bassett in 1946 in Quincy; he died in 1980. Mrs. Bassett was a homemaker. She was a member of the Lutheran faith and was a foster mother for 38 years. Survivors: two daughters, Donna Shilling of Havana and Kim Daniels of Virginia; three sons, Gerald Bassett of Bushnell, Florida, Raymond Bassett Jr. of Havana and Rodger Bassett of Shelbyville; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Clara Hall and Eva Flaharty, both of Havana, Marilyn Shafer of Pekin and Beulah Haage of Tucson; and five brothers, M.R. Petty of Forest City, James Petty of Bishop, Lyle and Dean Petty, both of Havana, and Charles Petty of Oletha, Kansas. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Hurley Funeral Home in Havana, the Reverend James Allen Petty officiating. Burial: Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana.
