Matthew W. Bass, 40, of Newington passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. Matt was born in New Britian and was a lifetime resident of Newington. Matt was a beloved son, brother, uncle, godfather and friend to many. His friends and family were his first love, but his love of grilling and smoking meats brought all of his loved ones together during his annual smokefest/pigroast. He was a beloved employee of the Hebrew Funeral Association. His sarcasm and wit will be missed by all who knew him well. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Bass. He is survived by his mother, Margaret (Borysewicz) Bass, his sister and her husband Katie (Bass) Farrington and Scott Farrington, his nephew, Matthew Farrington, his nieces Claire and Emily Farrington and his extended family which are too numerous to mention. There will be calling hours on Sunday, July 14, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm followed by a Memorial service at 6:00 pm at the Molloy Funeral Home, 906 Farmington Ave., West Hartford.
