George Thomas ?Tom? Bass Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2008 at the Mish Funeral Home Chapel (120 Minner Ave.) for George "Tom" Thomas Bass Sr. Tom, 64 of Bakersfield, formally of Tehachapi, CA, was called home on June 9, 2008 after a year and a half battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. Tom and Sharon moved to Tehachapi from North Carolina in 1967, where they raised their three children, Debbie, Janet and Tom Jr. He was employed by Ashland Oil from 1968-1982. In 1984 he went to work at CCI as a correctional officer and retired in 2001. After retiring from CCI, he worked for Holiday Ford in Shafter for four years. Known by all family and friends as Tom, he loved to spend time with all his family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, camping and dining out with friends. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon Bass; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and David Hefley; Janet and Wes Hicks; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Traci Bass. His pride and joy were his grandchildren, Jessica and Gregory Hefley; Jennifer and Bryan Walsh, Tommy, T.J. and Heather Bass, Kelli and Donald Werner, and Clyde England; and great-grandson, Donnie Werner, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's honor to Hoffmann Hospice, The American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice. The family would like to express their Thanks to Dr. A. Risbud and staff and Hoffmann Hospice for their dedication and support.
