Mr. John Bassett, 78, who died at Riverton on July 19, was the second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. Bassett, of Macaw Creek, pioneer settlers of the district. He lived at Macaw Creek practically the whole of his life, except during the last two years, when owing to ill-health he resided in Riverton. He was a member of the Foresters? Lodge for many years. The remains were interred in the Riverton cemetery. Brothers and a sister who survived are Mr. James Bassett, Macaw Creek; Mrs. R.S. Bassett, Findon, Mrs. J. Pillefeant, Tarlee.
