Bassett, 76, of Savannah, Ga., formerly of 5018 Jennifer Lane, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 1995, at Candler General Hospital in Savannah. Born Jan. 25, 1919, in Bartonville to Jurgen G. and Pearl Morse Menssen, she married Maurice N. Bassett on May 21, 1938, in Peoria. He died Nov. 7, 1982, in Peoria. Two sons, Marvin and Terry, and three sisters also precede her in death. Surviving are two sons, Charles L. of Bartonville and John E. of Metamora; one daughter, Mrs. Jimmy (Margaret) Smith of Savannah; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchileren. She worked at St. Joseph's Home in West Peoria as a licensed practical nurse for 26 years. She was of the Catholic faith. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesay at Wilton Mortuary in Peoria. The Rev. E. Edward Higgins will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Entombment will bein Springdale Mausoleum in Peoria. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
