BASS ? Saturday, June 29, 1901, Mrs. Lamira A. Bass, nee Holcomb at Grand Island, age 58 years, 4 months and 25 days.
The deceased was born in Gibson county, Indiana, Feb. 3, 1843, near Princeton.
She was married to Alexander Bass on the 6th of November, 1863. She moved with her husband and family to Hamilton county, Neb., in the fall of 1883, and from there to Custer county in February, 1890, and to Grand Island in 1897.
There were born to them ten children, two of whom died when small. Eight children, her husband and aged mothers, Mrs. Vickers, and one brother, Jas. H. Holcomb, survive her.
She made a profession of religion in 1888, and joined the Primitive Baptist church June 25, 1890.
During her residence in this city the ceased made many admiring friends and won the esteem of all who knew her.
Her remains were shipped here for burial Wednesday night. The funeral services were conducted in the Baptist church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, by Rev. S.W. Richards, pastor of the Baptist church. All her children but two were present at the funeral. Dr. T.W. and Gifford were unable to reach here, the former being in San Diego, Cal., while the latter was somewhere in Missouri and could not be reached by telegraph. The children present at the funeral were: Elmer, Roe, Rose, Adrian and Lillie. The funeral was largely attended by her former friends and neighbors of the Holcomb settlement.
The Republican joins with the many friends of the family in extending sympathy to the relatives in their great bereavement.
