Epps (Eppes) Allen
Epps (Eppes) Allen, born around 1791 in Dinwiddie Co. Va, came to McCracken Co. KY around 1828.
Epps serves as a Justice of the Peace for McCracken County from 1830 until 1833 when he was appointed Sheriff of McCracken County by the Governor of Kentucky.
Epps was a farmer and operated an inn in his home which was located 2 ½ miles from Paducah on Clinton Road. The area where he lived later became known as Wallace Park.
He had three children by his wife wife (name unknown).
Mary b. 1810 in Virginia d. after 1860 in McCracken County, married Archibald Washington Bass, Sr.
William Peter, b. Mar 20, 1812 in Petersburg, VA, m Oct 14, 1834 to Lucinda Stanley in McCracken County.
Richard E., born 1815 in Virginia, m. Dec. 14, 1835 to Julia Flournoy in McCracken County.
Epps and his second wife Nancy had there sons:
James A., b. 1834 d. before 1869, m. Nov. 30, 1854 to Louisa G. Billingsley in McCracken County.
Thomas W. b. 1837 in McCracken County, M. Oct. 12, 1868 to Helen Saunders in McCracken County.
George W., b. 1839 in McCracken County.
Nancy and William were charter members of First Presbyterian Church.
Epps d. 1869 in McCracken County. After his death Nancy Allen married Needham Corbett. Nancy d. in 1889 in McCracken County. Submitted by Bette ass Tate.
