Bassett, Waterford The death of Mr. George Walter Bassett took place at his residence, 13, South Parade, Waterford, on Tuesday morning, at the advanced age of 72 years. He was a son of the late Mr. Thomas Bassett, Catherine street, Waterford, and was in business in Waterford for over half a century; his integrity and courtesy made a host of friends. His third son, the late Lieutenant William Bassett, Black Watch, won the M.C. as a member of the British Expeditionary Force in Archangel. While serving at the Curragh he volunteered for Russia, and was killed on active service near Archangel. His eldest son, Mr. G. Bassett, is sub-agent of the Bank of Ireland in Castlebar. The second son, Mr. Benjamin Bassett, is a chemist in Malahide.
