Mr. Johnnie Bass, age 73, of Lumberton, NC, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. He was born in Robeson County, NC on February 12, 1947 to the late Rex Bass and the late Dorothy Locklear Britt. He was previously employed at Builder?s Discount Center in Lumberton for the past eight years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother who raised him, Maggie Locklear; two brothers, H.L. Britt and Terry Britt; and two sisters, Mary Ann Parker and Arbedella Britt.
Mr. Bass is survived by his wife of thirty-two years, Betty Parker Bass of the home; his daughter, Heather Bass of Hope Mills, NC; his step-son, Jerry Martin (Helen) of Bladenboro, NC; his step-daughter, Vickie Britt (H.T.) of Lumberton, NC; three brothers: James Britt (Carol) of Lumberton, NC, Gordon Britt (Pam) of Fairmont, NC, and Ernest Locklear (Linda) of Lumberton, NC; five grandchildren: Carson Lueth, Kylie Duffel, Jennifer Britt, Krystal Britt, and Jeremy Martin (Wendy); and two great-grandchildren, Jamison Britt and Mileigh Martin and a longtime devoted friend, Gary Maynor of Lumberton.
A time of visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 6:00-7:00PM at West Lumberton Baptist Church, 2320 West 5th Street in Lumberton, NC.
A funeral service will follow the visitation on Friday, January 22, 2021 at 7:00PM with Pastor Rick Foreman, Evangelist Willie Jacobs, and Joe Locklear officiating.
Burial will be on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11:00AM at Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton, NC.
