Mrs. Bassett Passes from Life, Aged 79 Years
Mrs. Jennie Bassett, a lifelong resident of the towns of Malone and Duane, died Saturday morning at her home on the Porter road southeast of Malone village. Her age was 79 years. She had suffered from a protracted illness.
Mrs. Bassett was the daughter of the late Thomas R. and Eliza Kane, of the town of Malone and she was greatly esteemed by a wide circle of friends among the older residents of this vicinity who are deeply grieved because of her passing.
At the age of 17 she was united in marriage with Almon L. Bassett, whose death occurred in 1898, being fatally injured in an accident while employed as a conductor on the New York Central Railroad.
She leaves surviving their three children, Iva E. Bassett, Mrs. Ida Selkirk and Mrs. John Bassett, and nine grandchildren, all residents of Malone.
