Bassett of Brockton, March 8, 2004. Helen L. (Goddard) Bassett, 90 years. Wife
of the late Dr. Gardner G. Bassett. Loving mother of Michael G. Bassett, Sr.
and his wife Diane of Brockton; Helen B. Pacewicz of of Bridgewater and
Gardner G. Bassett and his wife Linda of Raynham. Grandmother of Laurie
Audette, Michael Bassett, Jr., Lynn Filosi, Heidi Pacewicz-Trindade,
Christopher Pacewicz, Brian and Andrew Bassett. Great grandmother of Holly
Pacewicz, Noelle Audette and Zachary Bassett.
Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte. 123)
Brockton Saturday at 8 a.m. Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 9
a.m. Burial in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton, Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m.
Obituary:
Mrs. Bassett died Monday at Braemoor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a
brief illness. She was born in Natick, daughter of the late George and
Gertrude (Heinlein) Goddard. She was a graduate of Wellesly High School Class
of 1930, Wheelock College in 1934 and received her BS in Education from Boston
University in 1936. She had taught first grade in the Wellesly public school
system.
Mrs. Bassett lived in Brockton for over 50 years moving here with her husband
when he opened his medical practice after WWII. She was a member and pa
treasurer of the Brockton Hospital Women's Guild and was also a volunteer for
many years at the hospital.
Her interests were her family, antiquing, visits to Cape Cod, reading, and
traveling. She also loved anything chocolate.
Mrs. Bassett had been a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes and our Lady of
Rosary Churches.
She was the loving mother of Michael G. Bassett, Sr., and his wife Diane of
Brockton; Helen B. Pacewica of Bridgewater and Gardner G. Bassett and his wife
Linda of Raynham. Grandmother of Laurie Audette, Michael Bassett, Jr., Lynn
Filosi, Heidi Pacewica-Trindade, Christopher Pacewicz, Briand and Andrew
Bassett. Great grandmother of Holly Pacewicz, Noelle Audette and Zachary
Bassett.
