      James Bernard Bassett

      FORT WORTH - Jim Bassett, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away on September 26, 2024. His wife and son were with him as he was peacefully called home. Born on November 11, 1953 in Texas, Jim lived a life of love, passion, creativity and dedication.
      Rosary/Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, October 14, 2024, in Greenwood's Live Oak Chapel at 3100 White Settlement Rd., Fort Worth, Texas, 76107. Funeral Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at St. Patrick Cathedral; followed by interment at Greenwood Memorial Park.
      During Jim's life he was a talented computer programmer who was a published writer, sharing his knowledge and expertise with the world in several programming magazines. Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed chess, ice skating, bamboo growing, christmas lights, and hiking but his greatest interest was spending time with his family. He never let a Christmas go by where he didn't do an extravagant Christmas prank on the kids, he loved to see his family happy.
      Jim had a servant's heart, always eager to help others. Not only did Jim love the children in the family, but he also had big heart for animals. Over the years he had many cats and dogs and even a peacock, that he cared for like family. His love and his kindness, generosity, and charity touched the lives of many. His family was his pride and joy.
      Jim was proceeded in death by his sister-in-law, Carol Bassett and his grandson, Zachary Harris.
      He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Bassett, his children, Ian (Ashley) Bassett, Kerri (Jim) Harris, and Christie (Mike) Thomas; his brothers, John Bassett and Mike Murphy; his cherished grandchildren, Atticus Bassett, Tyler Harris, Gage (Noel) Harris, Hannah Ray, Caitie (Brandon) Whitley, and Pace Storey; along with multiple great-grandchildren. He was the embodiment of what a husband, father, and grandfather should be.
      Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
