Mary L. Bassett, resident of Roseville died peacefully June 15, 2005 at the age of 66. Loving wife of James; dearest mother of Lori (Greg) Stauffer and Mark (Nicole); Cherished grandmother of Izabella, Elizabeth, Mark, Rebecca, and Anthony; beloved daughter of Esther Peterson and the late Rev. Erich Peterson; sister of Wendall (Polly) Peterson and Ruth (James) Berg. Visitation will be held on Sunday, 12 noon - 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser. Funeral in St. Peter Lutheran Church, Eastpointe, Monday at 2 p.m. with additional visitation at 1 p.m. Memorials may be addressed to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or St. Peter Lutheran Church Choir. Mary L. Bassett, March 25, 1939 - June 15, 2005
Mary Louise Bassett, longtime resident of Roseville, died peacefully Wednesday evening surrounded by the love of her family. She was 66 years of age. Mary fought a courageous battle and won victory with her Lord and Savior.
Mary was born on March 25, 1939 in Freedom Township, Missouri, daughter of Erich and Esterh (Nierman) Peterson. She was united to her loving husband, James, on August 15, 1965 in St. Peter Lutheran Church of Eastpointe. The couple made their home in Roseville and was blessed with two beautiful children. Mary has been a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church for over 56 years. Being very active in the church, she enjoyed singing in the choir, being a member of the Ladies Society, and started the Stephens Ministry and kept it going in her church. Mary loved sewing, cooking, and signing. Mary was always there to give a helping and caring hand. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed by the many she has touched in her lifetime.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband of 39 years, James; loving children Lori (Greg) Stauffer and Mark (Nicola); cherished grandchildren Izabella, Elizabeth, Mark, Rebecca, and Anthony; beloved mother Esther Peterson; and dearest siblings Wendell (Polly) Peterson and Ruth (James) Berg. She was preceded in death by her father in 1993, Rev. Erich C. Peterson.
Visitation will be held Sunday at Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser from 12noon-4pm, 5:30pm-9pm. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Monday at 2pm in St. Peter Lutheran Church of Eastpointe with additional visitation at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made the Leukemia and Lymphoma.
