He was born Dec. 6, 1952 in Jacksonville, FL. and was a longtime resident of Quincy. He was retired from the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at 11:00 AM, at the Sunnydell Cemetery in Gretna, FL. Family will receive friends after the service at the Gretna Baptist Church.He is survived by his mother, Jane S. Bassett of Quincy; a sister, Wilma Ann Bassett of Alpharetta, GA; aunts and uncles, Charles and Mary Emma Bassett and Doris Bassett of Gretna; Lewis and Ann Sapp of Atlanta, GA. and Margaret and Bill Burtchael of St. Petersburg, FL. and his two devoted companions, Daniel and Teddy.Memorial contributions may be made to Big Bend Hospice or the Gadsden County Humane Society.Charles McClellan Funeral Home, Quincy, FL., 850-627-7677, is in charge of arrangements.
