James Bass
RINGGOLD ? James Earl Bass Sr., 76, of 100 Cardwell Lane, Ringgold, died Thursday, August 23, 2012, at his residence.
He had been in failing health for 10 years.
Born on January 28, 1936, in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late James Eugene Bass and Edith Lewis Bass.
On November 29, 1957, he married Sara Pattisall Bass, who survives of the home.
He was retired form Lorillard Tobacco Company and was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Alton.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James E. Bass, Jr. and his wife, Diane and Paul G. Bass and his wife, Annette, all of Ringgold; a sister, Barbara Collie of Verona; a brother, Donald Bass and his wife, Patsy of Ringgold; two grandsons, James Bass, III and Joshua Bass, both of Ringgold; a granddaughter, Nicole Wills and her husband, Mark, of Keeling; and two great-grandsons, Marcus and Nicholas Wills, of Keeling.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 27, at Floral Hills Memory Gardens with the Reverend David Abernathy officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Townes Funeral Home.
