Bessette Are Parents Of Daughter
Sgt. and Mrs. Richard Bessette are parents of a daughter, Janet Marie, born at William Beaumont Army Hospital.
Sergeant Bessette is stationed in Korea with the 25th Infantry Division Band.
Mrs. Bessette was the former Georgia Lee Koons, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Koons of 4208 McConnell street.

Janet Marie Bessette
Janet Marie Bessette, age 72, of Powells Point, NC, passed away peacefully in her home on June 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 4, 1953, in El Paso, TX, to Richard Bessette and the late Georgia Koons Bessette.
Janet grew up as an Army brat, living in various places throughout her childhood before eventually having a family of her own. A life of change and movement shaped her into a resilient and adaptable individual who was dedicated to taking care of others.
She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother whose warmth, strength, and unwavering love left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Janet never met a stranger and made friends easily. She dedicated her life to her family, raising three daughters to be strong and independent women. Her home was the heart of family life ? a place filled with laughter, love, good food, traditions, and memories that will last forever.
Janet is survived by her father, Richard Bessette; her brother, Robert "Bobby" Bessette; and her sisters, Linda Bessette and Tracy Luna. She leaves behind her beloved daughters: Jennifer Lopez (husband, Fernando Lopez), Karen Ramsey (husband, Doug Ramsey), and Audra Poppy (husband, Michael Poppy). Janet was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren: Garrett Manhan, Alyssa Manhan, Brittany Manhan, Ethan Trujillo, Brooke Ramsey, Aiden Poppy, Liam Poppy, and Kaitlyn Poppy; and was blessed with six great-grandchildren. She is also remembered with love by many nieces, nephews, and cousins from near and far, all of whom she held close to her heart. She was preceded in death by her mother, Georgia, and her brother, Richard "Buzz" Bessette.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Janet's home.
