Mr. Bessette was born in Valley Field, Quebec, Canada and came to the US in 1920. He first settled in Burlington, VT before moving to Albany in 1925. Mr. Bessette was a service manager with Orange Motor Co. in Albany for 46 years, retiring in 1972. He was a long-time member of the Albany Society of Engineers, a past Grand Knight of St. Ignatius at the former Jesuit Retreat House in Glenmont and a communicant of St. James Church. Husband of the late Alice Leboeuf Bessette; father of Dr. Russell W. Bessette of E. Amhurst, NY; uncle of Lise Leboeuf of Montreal, Canada; grandfather of Dr. Carolyn Bessette and Matthew Bessette. Funeral service Thursday 8:15 a.m. from the Norman E. Dascher Funeral Home, 490 Delaware Ave., thence to St. James Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Entombment St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
