Richard, of Corte Madera, beloved husband of the late Gloria (Sherman) Richard and cherished father of Janice Carragher, Robert Richard, Linda Urata and James Richard passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at the age of 95. Son of the late Henry G. Richard and Susan (Bassett) Richard, he was born in Bogota, New Jersey, July 15, 1921, and was raised with his dearly-loved brother Harry in Hackensack, New Jersey. He graduated at the top of his class from New York University in 1947 and received his Master of Business Administration from Golden Gate University in 1953. A decorated Army Air Force veteran he proudly served his nation during World War II in England, France and Germany. He was en route to the Philippines when the war ended. David began his professional career in New York City, at City Bank in 1938, working full time while attending college. He met Gloria Sherman and they were married in 1950 and moved that year to San Francisco, California. Shortly thereafter, he began a 36 year career at Wells Fargo Bank. David leaves behind his daughter Janice Carragher and her husband Bill of Granite Bay, CA, son Robert Richard of West Hartford CT, daughter Linda Urata and her husband Kirk of Bakersfield, CA, and son James Richard of Sausalito, CA; grandchildren Nathan and Lauren Carragher, Ashley and Heather Richard and Grace (Urata) Beech and her husband Clark, Sarah and Claire Urata. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm on Friday, October 21st at Daphne Funerals Marin, 601 Tamalpais Drive, Corte Madera, CA 94925, 415-924-4004. Memorial services will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, October 22nd at Marin Lutheran Church, 649 Meadowsweet Drive, Corte Madera, CA 94925, 415-924-3782. Burial services will follow at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery, San Rafael. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to Marin Lutheran Church or the Marin Symphony.
