Mrs. Bassett, East Nassau Teacher, Dies
Mrs. Arba M. Bassett, 48, a teacher at the East Nassau Central School for the last four years, died yesterday at the Hillcrest Hospital in Pittsfield, Mass. Although she had been under a doctor?s care, her death was unexpected and she taught until taken ill this week.
She previously had taught at Poultney, Vt.
The former Doris Perry, Mrs. Bassett was a native of Chittenden, Vt., and had resided at Hoags Corners for the last five years. She was a graduate of Rutland, Vt. High Schook, and of the Vermont State Teachers College at Castleton, Vt. She had continued her membership at the Chittenden Methodist Church.
Surviving her besides her husband are one son, Arba M. Bassett Jr., of Hoag?s Corners; a daughter, Mrs. George Morehouse of Granville; a sister, Mrs. John Whitcomb of Tampa, Fla.; one grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
The body will repose at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home at Stephentown and the funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Barnard Funeral Home at Pittsford, Vt.

Mrs. Arba M. Bassett
HOAGS CORNERS, N.Y. ? Mrs. Doris Perry Bassett, 48, wife of Arba M.
Bassett Sr., died yesterday afternoon shortly after being admitted to
Hillcrest Hospital, Pittsfield. Mrs. Bassett, a teacher at the East Nassau
Central School, was stricken at her home. Oxygen was administered while en
route to the hospital in the Lebanon Valley Protective Assn. ambulance.
Former Teacher
Mrs. Bassett was born April 30, 1907, in Chittenden, Vt., and taught
at Poultney, Vt., before moving here five years ago. She was a graduate of
Rutland (Vt.) High School and the Vermont State Teachers College at Castleton,
Vt. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Chittenden.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Arba Jr. of this tow
daughter, Mrs. George Morehouse, of Granville, N.Y.; a sister, Mrs. John
Whitcomb, of Tampa, Fla.; one grandchild and several nieces and nephew
The body is at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, Stephentown, where
friends may call this evening. The body will be taken tomorrow to the Barnard
Funeral Home in Pittsford, Vt., from where the funeral will be held Tuesday
afternoon at 2 followed by burial in the Chittenden Cemetery.
