Henry L. Bassett, Electrical Engineer

Henry L. Bassett, 89, of Lansdowne, a retired electrical engineer,
died of complications from a stroke Feb. 3 at Broomall Presbyterian Village.
Mr. Bassett was born in Tacoma, Wash., and earned a bachelor's degree
in electrical engineering at Washington State University in Pullma
He spent his entire career with General Electric. He started in New
York and was transferred to the company's Southwest Philadelphia plant in the
early 1940's. He worked as a senior design engineer until his retirement in
1978.
Mr. Bassett was a member of several Masonic groups, including
Lansdowne Lodge No. 711, serving there for more than 50 years. He was also a
commander with the St. Albans Commandery, a fraternal group. He and his wife,
Elizabeth Armstrong Bassett, volunteered at the Presbyterian Medical Center in
Philadelphia for many years, and both earned 5,000-hour pins for their
service.
In addition to his wife of 53 years, Mr. Bassett is surviv
daughter, J. Eliza Bassett; a son, William H.; and two grandchildre
A memorial service is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. March 18 at the
auditorium of Broomall Presbyterian village, 146 Marple Rd., Broomal
