He was of the Baptist faith and was a legend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bassett, Sr. and Annie Ruth Hardison Bassett; his wife, Edna Jane Carroll Bassett; and a son, William Michael Bassett. Survivors include one son, David Bassett (Tammy) of Musella; one daughter, Sandra Armstrong (Greg) of Musella; three sisters, Caro Bassett of Dyersburg, TN, Shirley Bassett of Dyersburg, TN and Minna Bassett of CA; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren also survive.
