Cindy Lou Bassett of Branch, shed her earthly bonds on Saturday, December 26, 2020.
Born on Dec. 17, 1962 to Burdette and Jacqueline (Davison) Bassett in Muskegon, she grew up in Fruitport. A few years after her father?s death, her mother opened Jackee?s restaurant in Custer, where Cindy worked as a cook for her mother until the restaurant was sold in the early 90s. Cindy continued her cooking career at other local eateries until health issues forced her to claim disability.
She purchased her own home in Branch in 1996 and continued to live there until the end. She liked her independence and privacy, but her door was always open to those who?d stop by. Even with limited resources, she had a big heart and was known to help those who needed it, no matter what.
Cindy really enjoyed riding anything that had a motor. She had her own motorcycle and pestered her brothers to let her ride their snowmobiles and ATVs. Lawn mower ?. not so much. She also enjoyed playing video games and watching movies. She loved fishing, camping, and golfing.
She was at her best with animals. She just had a way with them and always had a dog and/or a cat as a companion. At one time, she even had a couple of raccoons that would come around and play with her. The treats they received were just a bonus.
Whatever the family function, Cindy could always be counted on to show up ?fashionably? late. She and her easy smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends, but we must take comfort knowing that her suffering is over. Rest easy Cindy Lou.
She is survived by her sibling brothers; Steven (Sharee) Palmer of Fruitport, Bart Bassett of Hesperia, and Todd Bassett of Fountain; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and many, many cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
