      Franklin Dennis Bassett

      Franklin Dennis Bassett, 60, of Jonesboro, Ark., formerly of Bloomington, died at 5:30 p.m. Thurday (Jan. 27, 1994) at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center, Jonesboro, after a three-week illness. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral Baptist Church, Jonesboro, the Rev. Doug Welborn officiating. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gregg Funeral Home, Jonesboro.

      Mr. Bassett was born April 16, 1933, at Manila, Ark., a son of Albert and Geraldine Vastbinder Bassett. He married Ann Hodges. Later, he married Barbara Jimmerson. She survives. Other survivors include his mother, Jonesboro, Ark.; two daughters, Denis Swinney, Farmington, N.M., and Paul Bassett, Rockford; one son Don Bassett, Normal; three brothers, Richard Bassett, Bono, Ark.; and James and Bob Bassett, Jonesboro, Ark.; four sisters, Nita Roe, Paragold, Ark.; Linda Peters, Portland Ind.; Shirley Davis, Leachfield, Ark.; and Meredith Farris, Mantachie, Miss.; one stepdaughter, Lea Terry, Blytheville, Ark.; and five grandchildren.

      Mr. Bassett had been employed by Warehouse Foods, Jonesboro, Ark., for 14 years. In Bloomington, he had been a serviceman for Getz Fire Equipment. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Bassett also was a member of the Bloomington Loyal Order of Moose.

      JONESBORO - Dennis Bassett, 60, employee of Warehouse Foods, died Thursday at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Cathedral Baptist Church. Gregg Funeral Home has charge. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a Korean War Navy veteran. Mr. Bassett, the husband of Barbara Bassett, also leaves two daughters, Denise Sweeney of Framington, N.M., and Paula Kay Bassett of Rockford, Ill.; a son, Don Bassett of Normal, Ill.; a stepdaguther, Lea Terry of Blytheville; his mother, Geraldine Bassett of Jonesboro; four sisters, Nita Roe of Paragould, Linda Peters of Portland, Ind., Shirley Davis of Leachville and Meredith Farris of Mantachie, Miss.; three brothers, Richard Bassett of Bono, and James Bassett and Bob Bassett, both of Jonesboro, and five grandchildren.
